OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it b?

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Isn't it 'd' ?

OpenStudy (ranga):

^^^ d it is.

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

okay ranga - I was going to work it out

OpenStudy (haseeb96):

B is the correct answer...

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

sqrt(6x +4) = 8 Square both sides 6x + 4 = 64 Subtract 4 from both sides 6x + 4 -4 = 64 -4 6x = 60 divide both sides by 6 6x = 60 x = 10 That is answer 'd'

OpenStudy (ranga):

@Haseeb96 The first step is to square both sides to get rid of the square root. The first step in b) is to take square root on both sides!

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

answer 'b' starts with take the square root of both sides sqrt(6x +4) = 8 which becomes (6x +4)^.25 = sqrt(8)
