why is cholesterol more soluble in organic solvents and not soluble in water?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since cholesterol is organic, it will most easily dissolve in organic solution, Because generally "like molecules will dissolve in other like molecule easier." With that being said, we know that water is not an organic molecule, so cholesterol would not be as soluble it as it would be in organic solvents.
