OpenStudy (lukecrayonz):

Maximum value of derivatives?

OpenStudy (lukecrayonz):

http://gyazo.com/50082049bd200fcb680ed1caef1d6ab2 only need help with the last part

OpenStudy (lukecrayonz):

JK I got it

OpenStudy (lukecrayonz):

Whats the minimum..

OpenStudy (lukecrayonz):

It's just when the deriv equals zero, but 550/a, would it not be zero?

OpenStudy (lukecrayonz):

But it says zero is wrong.. lol:( and it says there is a minimum value

OpenStudy (phi):

I think part © is asking for the maximum of N(a), which occurs when N'(a)=0 550/a = 0 if we invert both sides a/550 = 1/0 a is undefined... there is no maximum value

OpenStudy (lukecrayonz):

Right, that's what I got but now for the minimum I'm lost.

OpenStudy (phi):

a minimum also occurs at N'(a)=0 or at the boundary i.e. when a=1 we can ignore the N'=0 (there is no a) so evaluate N(a) at a=1

OpenStudy (lukecrayonz):

1800:O Got ya
