Carbohydrates and proteins are two types of macromolecules. Which functional characteristic of proteins distinguishes them from carbohydrates?

hi! welcome to Openstudy!!:D as u r new to this site i would suggest u to go through the code of conduct once!! http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct happy studying:D now moving to ur ques...if u r looking only at the functional characteristics then carbs cannot work as enzymes(as far i know) basically they are 2 different macromolecules with different functional groups... monomers of proteins are amino acids while of carbs are monosaccharides..
