i ned to find the main idea of this paragraph, along with at least 4-5 questions, comments,and concerns about the topic Priests governed the earliest city states in Mesopotamia on behalf of the city's chief or goddess. Priestly power to rule seems to have been based on both religious ides on economics because the temples controlled surplus grain and other needed items. In the third millennium, a secular leader typically replaced these religious authorities. Originally these leaders were called something like "big man" but were soon described as king.
