Simplify the rational equation. And state any restrictions on the variable. 3x-6/6x+3. I have 3(x-2)/3(2x+1).. x-2/2x+1.. How do I do the restrictions part?

OpenStudy (btaylor):

The restrictions are wherever the denominator equals zero, since that will make the function undefined. So, if 2x+1 cannot equal 0, x cannot equal -.5.

How do you get the .5 (1/2) though?

OpenStudy (btaylor):

\[2x+1\neq 0\]\[2x \neq -1\]\[x \neq -1/2\]
