Lactose is formed by beta galactose and glucose, but which glucose?

To me it looks like alpha-glucose, but my chemistry book doesn't tell me.

the anomeric carbon of glucose hasn't formed a bond so it's not either. Only upon the formation of a glycosidic bond using the anomeric carbon of glucose is it determined.
