Im thinking that shadow might have said something about the abnormal characters the users use in their screen names might be affecting the system ... we had a user whose name was a set of vertical chinese characters, and thats when I noticed this starting again.

They should limit the number of characters that are allowed in a username anyways. Only letters and numbers would be enough.

And zalgo is a way to put more than 50 symbols in 1 character. So that user made a name with 500+ symbols which is probably what caused this mess.

I'll get a little more technical for you here. When people make names with strange characters it tends to cause problems with the code. When you make a account there is immediately code automatically made with your name included. If you have a character that the browser recognizes in your name it can change it to be part of the code thus messing up the website. In short someone has made a weird name or something to that extent that has caused us to not be able to view the smart scores. They are still there but we can not see them. Give the team some time to track down the problem as it is a long tedious problem. Let me elaborate on tedious. It is a very painstakingly long process.

A network administrator CAN delete an account though it would not stop it from happening again. We CAN block that character from being used again but it would not stop them from using another character.

Yes, one of the things that could be implemented easy and it would prevent a lot of problems. Also include an IP check. If the IP is in the blacklist (the IP of a user who gets suspended should be added to this blackist for a couple of hours), they wouldn't be able to create a new account. That would instantly fix the new account in 10 seconds problem.
