So, you know in your second equation, you directly have x = 4y and you have a 4x term in the first equation So... you can substitute in "4y" in the first equation where x is y = 4(4y) + 45 Now essentially you have just one equation with 1 variable y which should be (hopefully) easy to solve

Once you find the value of y by solving y = 4(4y) + 45, you can use that value of y in the equation below [x = 4y], to find the value of x!
