In sexual reproduction, inheritence of traits is done by 2 parents, while in asexual type only one parent is involved. In asexual reproduction, due to simple mitotic division of d parent cell, variation in d progeny is not possible without mutation. But in sexual organisms, traits being inherited by two parents (the male and the female), they join together to give out a mixed trait, i.e dissimilar to either of the parent...here, d gamete formation is carried out by meiosis which increases chances of Source. yahoo.answers
