Help. I will give a medal!!

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

4x + 9y = 21 3x - 8y = 1 What is the first step of eliminating the x?

OpenStudy (rina.r):

i am doing it on note book so plz wait.

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

thanks :)

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Divide the first with 4 or the second with 3 so that you have single x on both equations. Or you can multiply the first with 3 and second with 4

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

thank you wolfe.. so much.

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

and thanks Rina :)

OpenStudy (rina.r):

3(4x=9y=21) 4(3x-8y=1) 12x+27y=63 12x-32y=4 59y=59 y=59/59 y=1

OpenStudy (rina.r):

now atke any equation and solves for x so 4x+9y=21 4x+9(1)=21 4x+9=21 4x=21-9 4x=12 x=12/4 x=3
