Which scientist proposed that cells come from other cells? A. Hooke B. van Leeuwenhoek C. Schwann D. Virchow

Although Henry Dutrochet was given the honor of his quote, ' The cell is the fundamental element of organization,' there were many others that before him observed and seen what was going on in cells. The cell was named by Robert Hooke when he observed the cell as looking like walled compartments that he associated with cells. Three men were given the credit of this theory, 'cells come from preexisting cells'. Schwann, Schleiden and Virchow studied this theory but Virchow in 1858 concluded, 'all cells come from preexisting cells.'
