How will i find the integers given that the difference of their squares is 9. (I have problems in factoring :3 )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the original question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The difference of the squares of two consecutive integers is 9.Find the integers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Assume that the first number is x and the second number is x+1..so acrdng to the gvn conditions x^2-(x+1)^2=9.Nw solve this equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x ^{2} - x ^{2} - 2x -1 = 9\] am i right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then the x^2 will be cancelled?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes,now solve it further..you will get the value of x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just got it. thanks :)
