Please please help!! I give medals!! What happens when an ionic bond forms? The two atoms share the electrons equally between them. The nonmetal atom loses electrons to the metal atom. One nonmetal atom takes electrons from another nonmetal atom. The metal atom loses electrons to the nonmetal atom.
