please help will give medal!!!!!!!! a linear model for a set of data was y = -20.6 + 9.72x and produced the following residual plot : {Xscl= 1, Yscl= 5} how do I find the residual if x = 5?????

To answer the question I will need the residual plot. Can you attach the diagram?

OpenStudy (ranga):

To find the residual at x = 5, go 5 units along the x axis and read the y value. Remember the problem says {Xscl= 1, Yscl= 5}. That means each markings on the y axis represents 5 units. So what y value do you get from the plot at x = 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y = 25 @ranga

OpenStudy (ranga):

If you go 5 units along the x axis and read the y value it is a little over 1 unit along the negative y axis. And the scale for the y axis is 5 which means each marking represents 5 units So it is a little below -5. So the residual when x = 5 is y = -5 (or may be even -6 because it is not exactly aligned with y = -5).
