A spider has 8 legs. An ant has 6 legs. There are a group of ants and a group of spiders. The groups have equal numbers of legs what is the least number of spiders and ants in each group?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

24. Because you have to find the LCD-Least Common Denominator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here are the spiders, represented by 8's: 8 8 8 Here are the antes, represented by 6's: 6 6 6 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8x3=24 and 6x4=24 They are the LCD...So that means its the only equal number in there for you to choose that is the least amount. Therefore, there are that many ants and spiders in the group that is equal.
