Can someone tell me if this is good enough!? I will reward medal, and fan, and write a testimony i just want to know if what i did was good enough.
so these are the directions:
and here is what i did:
is this a good research report that I did? did i give a good enough explanation?
heres the article about what i did my research paper on. http://mediad.publicbroadcasting.net/p/wfae/files/201310/Cupid_Accents_Press_Release_-_North_Carolina.pdf
@Directrix please help?
@e.mccormick I think he can help you. btw, I think it is writing, right? should post there, not here
its probs nd stats
@e.mccormick can you correct my paragraph, to make sure it looks good, and has enough of a good explanation?:)
@jim_thompson5910 Please help!?
"In your explanation, be sure to identify any misleading uses of data. " \(\leftarrow\) I did not see any mention of misleading data, but I see at least three problems with this survey.
okay, hows my explanation? did i have a good enough explanation? and where would i find the misleading uses of data?
Well, one thing to think about is the quality of the data itself. When you get statistical data, what are you supposed to do to ensure the quality of the data? There are two problems related to that. And if the quality is problematic, what does that say about the results?
Thats its misleading, and interpets the wrong idea into peoples minds.
and that the results are untrue
Well, it is misleading, and might or might not be true. The main problem I see is there is no randomization. They just picked 2000 of THEIR users. What if 50% of their users are from the South Easter USA?
then they cant really count that as a vote, because their not from their right?
not totally sure.
its keeps saying i typing but im not lol
Or they are biased, etc. So the quality of the selection is undefined past it being 2000 Cupid users and there is no data on what the demographics of Cupid users are. 1. Conduct an Internet search to find nation-wide publications such as the Gallup Polling website or use another source like your local newspaper. Your sources can be national newspapers, magazines, websites, or any other media. You chose any other media. Fine. 2. Locate a report based on data. The report should give you some kind of results, e.g., a congressional satisfaction poll or a satisfaction poll for a particular car from a consumer's magazine. This report has that. There is a result based on the data. 3. In one to two paragraphs, provide a brief explanation of the report. Provide details and include how the information was collected, e.g., a survey, observation, or experiment. You did this, but I would change your first paragraph slightly. I would not say they did this, I would say they claimed to do so. 4. In your explanation, be sure to identify any misleading uses of data. I think you are getting this now. 5. Be sure to list the title, source and date of the report. You do so.
Thanks:)
Oh, and you could also add a counter argument about how other sources list it as #8: http://travel.cnn.com/explorations/life/worlds-sexiest-accents-130333
okay what would i say in it, or talk about?
Well, that is world wide tho... so it might actually add to their claim.
yea true.
As long as you talk about the questionability of the reliability of the data source, and how that leaves the truth of the claim in quesion, you should be fine. That would answer the abuse of data question.
Okay awesome!
np. Have fun.
thanks! hey quick question im not seeing where i said that "they did this"
for #3
"The report was able to provide insight into..." but does it do it or does it claim to provide insight.
oh gotchya.
I have had college English, Philosophy, and Sociology, so statements like that stand out to me. Hehe.
lol i bet, your very smart!
Most people are smart! The difference is in how they are taught and what they have done. In fact, there are some not-so-smart people that are very successful because they learned well and took the right chances. And there are some very, very smart people that made such unwise choices that they got the whole country in trouble! So it is more about what we do with it than what we have.
very good statment! i like the way you think! lol
im trying to find the date and when it was published.
http://mediad.publicbroadcasting.net/p/wfae/files/201310 \(\leftarrow\) that looks like a date.
Thanks!
And to back that up, there is a Google search: https://www.google.com/search?q=Cupid+Accents+Press+Release Look at the dates of all the news about it. Nov and Oct.
