How do I find the orthocenter of a triangle with the coordinates (6,11), (-7,3), and (-16,4)?

OpenStudy (ranga):

The orthocenter is where the altitudes intersect.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, But I need to solve it using algebraic functions and show my work

OpenStudy (ranga):

Find the slopes of each side of the triangle. The perpendicular line will have the negative reciprocal as the slope. That line passes through the opposite vertex so you can find the equation of the altitude line. Do the same for another side of the triangle. Then find the point of intersection of those two altitude lines.

OpenStudy (ranga):

Doing it for two sides will do.

THANK YOUUU!!!

You are welcome.
