how would a planet move if the sun suddenly disappeared

Without the gravity of the sun to hold us in orbit, we would follow Newton's laws of motion and fly off in a straight line. It would be like swinging a rock in a circle on a string and the string breaking.

note that the planet wont fly off its orbit immediately, because gravity can only move at the speed of light

Good that gives me some more time to think about it. What is a possibility of another orbit maybe a much larger orbit produced by gravity from another star?
