I want to learn Japanese my highschool doesn't offer it though, so I decided I'm going to try to teach myself Japanese question is where do I start? Can anyone give me good resources?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where do you start? well, research it. "learning japanese for beginners". you'll find out that there is more to it than just learning words.

I did do some research and it seems that most people say learn hirigana which is the alphabet of Japanese.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well.... what are you stuck on, then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Techniques, when learning languages normally teachers will tell you to remember a song that helps you remember the alphabet or something like that I can't see how to remember what sound goes with what piece of hirigana. It just gets confusing, so I am looking for resources to help me better memorize hirigana. So far I can't find any good method.

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

There are nice drills to learn hiragana in this page : http://www.japanese-lesson.com/characters/hiragana/hiragana_drill/ In two weeks, you can take up katakana http://www.japanese-lesson.com/characters/katakana/katakana_drill/index.html This site is full of resources.
