Why does a lunar eclipse last longer than a solar eclipse?

thomaster (thomaster):

Because a solar eclipse only applies to a small area on earth when the moon is between the sun and the earth. A lunar eclipse is when the earth is between the sun and the moon and therefore the entire moon is invisible.
