Which statement best explains why President Lincoln was opposed to the Wade-Davis Bill

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The opposition was due to the harsh requirements and provisions within the Wade-Davis Bill. President Lincoln wanted a more lenient reconstruction implementation.

OpenStudy (nurali):

i think The bill went against his more lenient plans for reuniting the nation. The plans that the wade-davis bill proposed were a lot harsher on southern reconstruction. But Lincoln died before he could help rebuild the south so Reconstruction wasn't as lenient as he wanted anyway.
