Help with finding the missing sides of a triangle?

I've been given a 45-45-90 triangle. (see image attached) I need to find x and y, and when I use the special 45-45-90 formula, I get x=7 and y=7root2, but when I use this method: sin45=7/y and solve for y so that y+7/sin45 and tan45=7/x and solve for x so that x=7/tan45, I get different answers than 7 and 7root2. Can anyone explain to me what I'm doing wrong?
