IN DESPERATE NEED OF HELP. Its dued soon! 1. A man pulls a crate with a rope. The crate slides along the floor in the horizontal direction (x direction). The man exerts a force of 50 N on the rope, and the rope is at an angle q. Describe how the force components (Fx, Fy) change as the angle increases from 0° to 90° and use your graph to explain your answer. Give a detailed explanation of the forces at q = 0°, 45°, and 90°. Show a sample calculation at one angle for both components
do you know how to use trigonometry? draw an FBD of this. remember that f=ma and the acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 m/s^2

Yeah i looked at that but i dont know if its right
okay thats easy you should know vectors and some trigonometry to solve this the horizontal component of the force will be 50 x cos q and the vertical component of the force will be 50 x sin q just look at the figure and i'll explain|dw:1385140122148:dw| if we use the triangle law for vectors, we get that the two perpendicular components of a vector are the cos and the sin component of the vector and the cos component is the component of the vector that is near to the angle and vice versa for the sin component so we get the horizontal component as Fcos q and the vertical component as F sin Q(sin q as it is away from the angle) (if you don't get the breaking of the vectors into sin and cos components, feel free to ask) next if we see the graph of the function y= sin x and y = cos x , we get that cos x is greater than sin x till the angle 45 deg, where they become equal and then cos x is smaller than sin x after 45 deg. same is happening here the horizontal component of the force will be greater than te vertical component till the rope makes an angle upto 45 deg from the horizontal and at 45 they become equal and then the vertical component will be greater than the horizontal component if the angle from the horizontal is further increased fro m45 deg. i know this reply is quiet confusing i would not mind explaining this once again and i am also posting the graph of the functions y=sin x and y=cos x hope this helps :)
|dw:1385140919394:dw| not too clear but i think you can see, the value of y=cos x is continuusly decreasing and the value of y=sin x is decresing slowly
