I am only aware about the LaTex we use here to write mathematical equations. I suppose you are referring to a standalone software, aren't you?
I'm using it to write my math thesis, and I'm having trouble inserting an image! I'm pretty new to it, so don't understand if I need a different package or something? I'm using TexMaker if that helps?
I am not aware about that, I am sure you would have tried google. I got some pages which seem helpful, did you try any of those steps?
