Two athletes, Jack and Jill, invite you invite you to participate in a 5K run with several hills. One hill can be represented by the function f(x) = 2x2 + 5. Another hill can be represented by the function g(x) = 2x2 - 3x + 4. Describe to Jack and Jill, using complete sentences, which operation results in the largest degree function and which operation results in the smallest degree function. Show your work to justify your reasoning.

OpenStudy (phi):

the question asks about " which operation " what operations are they talking about ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im assuming polynomial operations. the unit is rational, complex, and polynomial s.

OpenStudy (phi):

Yes I would think multiplying polynomials (because that gives a higher order polynomial) and divide (to get lower order polynomials). But it is not obvious why you would multiply or divide these polynomials... so I assume they gave more background/info

no that was all that was said in the question.. thats why i was so confused.
