Which of the following is the equation of a circle whose center is at the origin and whose diameter has endpoints (-1, 2) and (1, -2)? x2 + y2 = 2 x2 + y2 = 3 x2 + y2 = 4 x2 + y2 = 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just substitute the coordinates any of the given points to determine the square of the radius... coz the equation of the circle is.... \[x ^{2}+y ^{2}=r ^{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for one point you have x = -1 and y = 2, what is radius r or r^2? that will lead you to correct answer...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

have you got it @myra14 ? any questions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really every time i solve it it doesn't give me any of the solutions that i have to chose from

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is a correct answer actually... all you have to do is substitute x and y value to the equation given...
