Those are AD and BC. The coordinates for the midpoint M of AD are (-.5,3.5) The coordinates of the midpoint N of segmentBC are (4,.5) Using the distance formula we use the coordinates of points M and N to calculate the length of mid segment MN as Square root of 29.25 which is 5.41 approx
