turn 1 1/7 into an improper fraction... 1 1/7 = (1 x 7 + 1)/7 = 8/7 now we have 8/7 + 3/8 common denominator is 56 8/7 = 64/56 3/8 = 21/56 now add 64/56 + 21/56 = 85/56 = 1 29/56
I understand how you got that but its not one of the answer choices.
the answers are... 1 3/7, 1 3/56, 1/7, 3/7
