Smoking should be banned in public areas because for example: If there are little kids around, maybe even a baby, they can breathe in your smoke. That is called second hand smoke, and it is scientifically proven that second hand smoke can kill you faster than directly smoking yourself. In my opinion smoking in public ares should not be allowed and is dangerous for everyone around you. When you do smoke it is your choice, but I am asking you to not put the people who are around you lives in danger.
