(Will give medal <3) What is the slope of a line perpendicular to the line with equation y = 6x + 2? A. - 1/6 B. -6 (I think this one but I'm unsure) C. 6 D. 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To be perpendicular, it has to make a 90 degree angle. -6 will mirror the other equation, but it will not make 90 degree angles with the original function. you need to find the negative reciprocal of the original slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for example, if your slope is (-3/2), the slope of a perpendicular line would be (2/3).

So -1/6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup its -1/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep. You got it.
