Please Help me on the question.. Triangle JOY is translated using the rule ( x, y ) to ( x + 3 , y-2 ) to create triangle J'O'Y'. If a line segment is drown from point J to point J' and from point O to point O'. Which statement would best describe the line segment drawn A) They both create midpoints B ) They both create diameter of concentric circles. C ) They are parallel and congruent D ) They are perpendicular to each other Please explain why this is the answer

OpenStudy (ranga):

( x, y ) to ( x + 3 , y-2 ) moves each point by 3 units to the left and 2 units up. Therefore, if you join the old point and the new point the lines will all be parallel and congruent because you are moving them all by the same amount along the x axis and the same amount along the y axis making them have the same slope and hence parallel. They will all be equal lengths too because the distance will be sqrt(change_in_x squared + change_in_y squared)
