The graph of a function cannot cross any of its horizontal asymptotes. True or False

OpenStudy (anonymous):

way way false it can cross once, twice, an infinite number of times

false

Horizontal and oblique asymptotes describe the behavior of y as x goes to +/- infinity. There is no horizontal line test for functions themselves, so a function can repeat y-values infinitely. You can solve the equation f(x) = the equation of the asymptote (either HA or OA) to find any / all values of x where the curve crosses the HA or OA.
