At a local plant sale, Janice was selling Golden Barrel Cactus plants and baby Saguaros. During the sale, she sold 5 times as many Saguaros ($6 each) as Golden Barrels ($10 each). She made a total of $720 during the plant sale. How many Saguaros did Janice sell?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

You have 5x saguros. where x = # of GB sold. If each GB sells for 10 bux, then you have 10x = $ made. Now, multiply by $6, since you sell them for $6 bux. So that means you have 30x saguros. Which is the amount of $ made selling saguros. Now, find the total of BOTH saguros and GB = 30x + 10x = ____ that number is the total sales from \(\sf \color{red}{BOTH}\) plants. Which is why you added them. Set that equal to the total amount of money that you made and solve for x! \(\sf \color{blue}{HINT}\): divide. When you have the value for \(x\), then you can plug it in to find how much u made for saguros. \(\sf \color{purple}{HINT}\): \(\rightarrow\) 5x \(\leftarrow\)
