d is mid point means AD=BD=AB/2 e is midpoint means BE=EC=BC/2 BDE and BAC are similar as angle b is same and BD/BA=BE/BC

so from similar triangle BE/BC=BD/BA=DE/AC BE=BC/2 ----->BE/BC=1/2=DE/AC (2x+1)/30=1/2 2*(2x+1)=30 4x+2=30 4x=28 x=7
