Does anybody know what a vertical shift is? Can you explain it to me super simple?

Vertical shift means the graph moves up or down the y axis. If positive will go up and if negative will go down. For example if you have y = 2+ sinx the graph will shift up by 2 units. And if y = sinx -2. The graph will shift down by 2 units.
