5(2+3x)<3-2x help greatly appreciated

OpenStudy (kokoro):

Wait is it x<-7/17 or x>-7/17 ?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

the first :)

OpenStudy (kokoro):

I just confused on the rule of switching the signs, when does it apply?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

when you are dividing or multiplying by a negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[5(2+3x)<3-2x\] distribute \[10+15x<3-2x\] Add 2x to both sides. Subtract 10 from both sides. \[17x<-7\] divide both sides 17 \[x = \frac{ -7 }{ 17 }\]

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

so IF it was -17x < 7 then it would be x > -7/17

OpenStudy (kokoro):

Ah! Thank you Ryan and Jiggly

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

you're welcome :) glad I could help!

OpenStudy (kokoro):

Thank you, Ill get back to work now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (kokoro):
