Is python 2.7 still the standard or have more people begun using python 3.x ?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

Most every online course involving Python still uses 2.7

@TuringTest >> okay, thank you :)

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

In general, 2.x is used more than 3.x. However, the changeover was expected to take five years. Since 3.0 was a majorly flawed, that 5 years started with 3.1 on June 27, 2009. Five years from that date is almost over and the support for the 3.x line in libraries and standardly used tools is about 90% there, so their time line is reasonable. Even if you take 3.0 at December 3, 2008 as the start date, which I don't because issues in 3.0 caused many to avoid it, the 5 years to wide acceptance is pretty close. In fact, if Google App Engine supported 3.3, I think it would be one of the last major uses of 2.x to get changed over. They are up to 2.7, so a lot of the 3.x commands will work because of the added forward compatibility.
