Quadratic equations help!

OpenStudy (hihi67):

-5x^2 - 4x - 1 = 0

OpenStudy (hihi67):

I know that -5 is a, -4 is b, and -1 is c.

OpenStudy (hihi67):

So then I put it into the equation and I get: x = 4 + - the square root of -4^2 - 4*-5*-1 divided by 2 * -5

yes \[ x = \frac{-b±\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a} \\ x = \frac{-(-4)±\sqrt{(-4)^2-4(-5)(-1)}}{2(-5)} \\ x = \frac{4±\sqrt{16-20}}{-10}\\ x = \frac{4±\sqrt{-4}}{-10}\\ x = \frac{4±2i}{-10}\\ x= -\frac{4}{10} ± \frac{2}{10}i\\ x= - \frac{2}{5} ±\frac{1}{5}i \]
