6x^2-9x+5

Since the result is both complex and fractional, you're unlikely to be able to just factorise it in your head - you'll have to use the quadratic formula or 'complete the square'. The second is my favourite; 6x^2 - 9x + 5 = 6( x^2 - (9/6)x + (5/6) ) = 6( (x - (9/12))^2 - (81/144) + (5/6) ) = 6(x - (3/4))^2 + (6*26)/96 So (x - (3/4))^2 = - (13/48) Thus \[x = \frac{3}{4} \pm i\sqrt{\frac{13}{48}}\]
