\[\frac{-5 + i}{2i}\] \[\frac{-5 + i}{2i} \times (2i)\] \[-10i + 2i^2\] \[-10i + 2i^2 \times 2(-1)\] \[-10 \sqrt(-1) - 2\] My answer: \[-10 \sqrt{-1} - 2\] Computers answer: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=%28-5+%2B+i%29%2F2i What am I doing wrong? (I just learned about imaginary numbers so it might be some stupid mistakes, please help.)

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Never heard of imaginary numbers before LOL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see. You just multiplied by a (2i) from nowhere. Multiply it by (2i)/(2i)

OpenStudy (bibby):

It's also worth noting that the equation you put into wolfram was being read like this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1385347563533:dw| I did that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@bibby oh so is my version right?

OpenStudy (bibby):

I'm not sure and don't really want to do math right now lol. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=%28-5+%2B+i%29%2F%282i%29 wolfram says\[1/2 + 5i/2\]

OpenStudy (bibby):

eh, I'll try it out|dw:1385347851640:dw|
