Please Please I need help. I am taking a genetics class and I have been working on this assignment for days with no relief: ) R codes for red flower color and r codes for white flower color. a. What color would Rr be if R has complete dominance? b. What color would Rr be if R and r are codominant? c. What color would Rr be if R has incomplete dominance?
a : Red flower color b : would have a mix of both colours, either as a striped or spotted pattern. Even though both colors show up separately, they're still recognizable as the colors of either homozygous genotype, but BOTH appear.. c : it show pink colour . @Missy1999
@Missy1999 r u there ??
Sarah786. I really appreciate your help and response. I am afraid because I am taking this class online and they may want to know where I gotten this information from. I am just so lost in this class.
Its easy .. If u know what is dominance and its types ...:)
Yes I am reviewing my notes and I do see some of that information but still would not have been able to get the answer. I really appreciate your help @ Sarah786
Np dear :) .. Do u need more help ??
I do need more help. I have at least 5 more questions. I would appreciate any help you can offer me.
Red-green colorblindness is an X-linked recessive mutation. A colorblind female is crossed with a normal male. a. What are the parental genotypes? (Hint: the sex of the parent is important) b. Diagram the F1 results from this cross. (Show your Punnett Square). c. Diagram the F2 results. (Show your Punnett Square). Any help you can offer is appreciated don't worry if you don't know I will keep trying to look it up in my chapter readings.
hi missy...can u tell me the genotype of parent or u are totally lost?
@shrutipande9 Sorry I am really that lost, that is the question presented and I just have not a clue how to answer it. Sorry
ok..no worries...no need to say sorry... now when they say it is a sex linked recessive trait then the colour blind female should have x^nx^n genotype...
u know that the sex alleles aof female is XX and that of male is XY
With me so far?
Yes Sorry for the delay I was checking over my notes to make sure I was following you. I am following you
cool...now male is normal...so the genotype would be normal XY correct? now can u make a cross of X^nX^n x XY?
Females possess two X chromosomes; so there are three possible genotypes among females: X1X1 and X1Xc, which produce normal vision, and XcXc, which produces color blindness.
Males have only a single X chromosome and two possible genotypes: X1Y, which produces normal vision, and XcY
okay...u havewritten the possibilities absolutely correct...but every genotpe is not possible if we consider these 2 parents...for eg u cannot get X1X1 female with these parents....so lets draw a punnet..shall we? can u complete a punnet for me?
Ok I will try. one sec. Thanks again for your help
cool...i am always happy 2 help:D especially when it is genetics..:D
Gametes Mom (x+, Xc) Dad (Xc, Y) X Normal female= X+Xc Color- blind female= XcXc Y Normal male= X+Y Color-blin male= XcY
Sorry if it is hard to read. I tried to line it up correctly
ohh..ok wait...tell me what is the genotype of mother?
Would it be X+Xc?
My gametes should be Xc and Y, I think
X+ is normal vision and Xc is color blindness
no no..see they have given mother is colourblind...and also it is due to a recessive trait correct? so for a recessive trait to express mom should be homozygous recessive..ie XcXc..correct?
if mom becomes X+Xc then she would become normal not colourblind..getting me so far?
yes. Ok I have it all mixed up
So I need to switch it around?
yep...tell me d genotype of mother and father then u are all good to go ahead...
So mother is XcXc and father is X+Y+
absolutely correct..:D now u can go ahead with the punnet..and draw it this way..it becomes easier

Wow thank you so very much for helping me understand this.
always happy 2 help:D
Genetics gets harder and harder. Any time to help with another question?
hey..srry i dozed off yest...yes sure i can help u with a few more questions...
