An easy way to think of how public policy affects you is to think of it as a set of laws that everyone has to follow. For example, the promise of equal rights is a policy that everyone should have but didn't in periods of our own history until the government stepped in and passed the laws that said things such as race and gender discrimination were illegal. Now it's public policy that everyone is equal under the law, regardless of who they are or what they believe in.

Public policy is the principles that social laws are based on. There are a lot of ways that public policy affect me. Public policy is what makes it so discrimination on race and gender aren’t allowed. Public policy is also what makes food have to be tested to ensure it is safe.
