OpenStudy (anonymous):

B. Skeletal muscle skeletal muscles work in pairs because muscles can only contract (pull) and cannot expand (push). Skeletal muscles will have a flexor and an extensor. The flexor bends the joint. The extensor straightens it out again.

ok i just dont get this What is the function of skeletal muscles? A. to control the movement of internal organs B. to control the contractions of the heart C. to move bones

C. to move bones

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok how do u know that for sure though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Bones and muscles work like ropes and levers. The muscles can only pull against the bone not push it. So to bend your arm at the elbow, the bicep pulls the lower arm up. To straighten your arm, the triceps pulls the lower arm back out. the muscles have to work in pairs opposite each other to make movement.
