A benchmark is a level of achievement that you have reached. It is a place and time that means you have achieved something good, and are now ready to achieve something great. Hows that sound? :P
Your answer was great. But I wanted to know the definition of 'benchmarks' in math. Sorry for not mentioning that in the question. :)
