Use the zero product property to find the solutions to the equation x^2 + x – 30 = 12. a. x = –7 or x = 6 b. x = –7 or x = –6 c. x = –6 or x = 7 d. x = 6 or x = 7

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

subtract the 12 over x^2 +x -42 = 0 find factors of -42 that add up to 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which is the right answer choice?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

haha what are 2 factors of -42 that add up to 1 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c. lol

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

hold on c) gives correct factors but not the answers for "x" :) --> (x+7)(x-6) = 0 x + 7 = 0 --> x = -7 x-6 = 0 ---> x = 6
