Producer: an organism that gets its energy from sunlight by producing sugars and other simple carbohydrates Example: dandelion, oak tree Decomposer: an organism that gets its energy by breaking down dead organisms into nutrients Example: mold, bacteria They obtain energy in completely different ways.
