What are the real or imaginary solutions of the polynomial equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^4 - 41x^2 = -400

OpenStudy (phi):

first write it as x^4 -41x^2 +400 = 0 if you let y=x^2, you can say y^2 -41y +400 =0 do you know how to use the quadratic formula to find y ? once you find the two values of y, x = ±sqrt(y)

OpenStudy (shamil98):

The quadratic formula. \[\huge x = \frac{ -b \pm \sqrt{b^2-4(a)(c)} }{ 2(a) }\] Your values of a, b, and c are found from looking at this ax^2 + bx + c = 0 For this equation a = 1 , b= -41 , c = 400
