i would stack them vertically

-2 x^2 y^3
14 x^2 y^3

then its just a matter of multiplying down the columns, this is also a practice of properties of exponents; when multiplying like bases, the exponents add
\[\large b^x\cdot b^y=b^{x+y}\]
