can you tell me how to write a function with two real rational solutions?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

ok... how about if you provide the 2 real rational solutions?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

got any two in mind?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what exactly is a rational solution?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well... what's a rational?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, so i choose 3.13 and 6.4

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

\( \begin{array}{llll} x = 3.13\implies x-3.13=0\implies &(x-3.13)=0\\ \quad \\ x=6.4\implies x-6.4=0\implies &(x-6.4)=0 \end{array}\\ \quad \\\bf \textit{that means that to get your function, multiply both roots}\\ \quad \\ (x-3.13)(x-6.4)=0\implies (x-3.13)(x-6.4)=y\)

thanks
